In February 2020, Edai Christian School (ECS) in Edai Town was officially opened by Sir Moi Avei. The opening was also marked by signing a Memorandum of Understanding between Boera Holdings, ACS International, and Edai Town Development to establish an education hub at Edai Town. The school will work closely with the four villages in the Hiri West LLG of Porebada, Papa, LeaLea, and Boera, which are determined to embrace quality education for their children's future. ECS is a Campus of Sunrise Bethel Christian School (SBCS).

Brief history
Executive Principal
Mrs Elinas Sione
We are proud to introduce Elinas Sione, Executive Principal of Sunrise Bethel Christian School and Edai Christian School.
Mrs Sione began her teaching career in the public school system, where she served faithfully for 14 years. In 2013, she joined Sunrise Bethel Christian School as a support teacher, marking the beginning of a significant and purposeful chapter in her educational journey. Her dedication to student growth and academic excellence soon saw her teaching Grade 8 for five consecutive years, an experience that strengthened her passion for nurturing young minds during their formative years.
In 2019, Mrs Sione was appointed High School Principal at Sunrise Bethel Christian School, a role she served in with distinction until 2024. Her leadership during this period was marked by steady growth, strong community engagement, and a continued commitment to both academic and spiritual development. In 2025, she was honoured with the appointment as Executive Principal of both Sunrise Bethel and Edai Christian School, expanding her vision and responsibility across the two campuses.
Throughout her career, Mrs Sione has been deeply influenced by the mentorship and wisdom of past principals who modelled integrity, servant leadership, and unwavering dedication to education. Their guidance has played a significant role in shaping her leadership philosophy.
Above all, Mrs Sione acknowledges God as the ultimate source of wisdom and strength in her life. Her faith remains central to her leadership, guiding her commitment to excellence, service, and the holistic development of every student.
As Executive Principal, Mrs Sione continues to lead with vision, humility, and a steadfast commitment to providing quality Christian education for all learners.

Curriculum
The objective of education at Edai Christian School is for our students to develop a deeper understanding of commitment to a Christian way of life. Our goal is for students to be grounded in living out the image of God and live their lives from a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. We believe that knowledge and learning do not end in themselves and that students should learn to use their knowledge and act as stewards of God’s creation.
We see three things working together to complete the whole educational process:
- Intellectual – the way we think about knowledge and understanding, learning and teaching
- Emotional – the way we and our students feel as we teach and learn and
- Spiritual – the ways we are connected with God through love and work, leading us to serve others.
Our curriculum is Biblically based and built on the curriculum from the Department of Education in PNG and Australia.
